This privacy policy sets out how Peers uses and protects any information that you give Peers when you use the service Peers.me and visit the website. Peers is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

Peers may periodically update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the email address specified in your Peers.me account or by placing a prominent notice on our site. This Privacy Policy is effective as of August 18, 2011.

What we collect

When visiting the website Peers.me we collect about your computer such as your IP address, browser type, referring/exit pages, and operating system. We use this information to help us improve our service and help you enjoy our service even more.

When registering for a Peers.me Personal or Network Account we may collect the following information:

Contact information such as name, email address, links to other sites
Unique identifiers such as wave address, password or external accounts.

As an administrator of a Network Account we may collect billing information such as company name, credit card information and billing address when updating your Network subscription.

Your basic account information consist of your wave address, avatar, and your name.

When you are using Peers.me services in conjunction with a Peers.me Network Account, Peers provides such services in conjunction with or on behalf of your network administrator. Your administrator will only have access to your basic account information. Consult your Network administrator’s privacy policy for more information.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

Products and services provision, billing, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, and research.
We may periodically send emails about important Peers.me updates using the email address which you have provided.

Security The security of your personal information is important to us. When you login to the service or register for a Personal or Network Account, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that information you supply won’t be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet, and any information you transmit to the Company you do at your own risk. We recommend that you not disclose your password to anyone.

Peers uses third party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run Peers.me.

Controlling your personal information and content When registering for a Peers.me Personal or Network Account you may correct, update or remove your personal information at any time by making the change on your account settings page or by emailing our Customer Support at support@peers.me. We will respond to your request to access within 5 days. It is not possible to change your wave or network address.

If you do not longer wish to use Peers.me you can request to delete your Personal or Network account by email Customer Support at support@peers.me. Please note that waves shared with other users or networks cannot be deleted until you are the only participant of the wave. It is also not possible to delete a wave, but by removing yourself as a participant you will no longer be able to access the wave. When there are no participants on a wave, this wave will be deleted by our system at some time.

Information sharing We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy policy. Peers does not sell or rent personal information about its customers to any third parties. In the case this will change in the future we will notify you in time and let you have the controls changing your information sharing options.

API When enabled, your basic information or contributed waves can be exposed to third-party applications or websites via the Peers.me API (Application Programming Interface). However, you control what and if basic information or contributed waves is exposed via the API. Please refer to your privacy settings of your account to control your information sharing or to find out if the API is enabled.

Publishing waves By publishing waves these can be exposed to third-party applications or websites via the API. If the permissions of other participants of the wave apply they can also publish the wave.

Cookies We use cookies to keep track of your preferences, session data and profile information.

Links to other websites Our website may contain links to other websites. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over the other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
